1) Grid tied- Most common here in Metro Detroit. Your panels produce energy for your use and excess energy is put back into your local grid for your consumption when the panels aren't producing.
2) Grid tied with battery- Same as above system, but with additional electrical components and a battery to allow for local energy storage.
3) Off Grid- This system is free from the utility grid and includes significant storage. These systems will generally require an additional supplement source such as a generator to confidently handle high demand periods.
